We had a relaxed and rejuvenating day spending time outdoors at beautiful McGalliard Falls shooting pictures of simple moments in nature with my new camera, which I am highly enjoying! I'm trying to incorporate new ideas and concepts that I'm learning in my photography classes along the way, while getting to know my new equipment. Check out a few of our favorite shots in the slideshow below:

I had a wonderful day yesterday exploring Asheville's River Arts District with its working studios and galleries galore, followed by an exciting visit to the bustling downtown with my precious friend, Beth. Here are a few of the photos I took along the way. Love this inspirational piece hanging in one of the galleries, I wonder if the artist changes the quote from time to time...The picture that is hanging on the bottom right is done by one of my favorite artists who had a showing recently in our Old Rock School gallery in Valdese, her name is Cynthia Decker. Click the image to visit her amazing website.
We had the most amazing dinner at Early Girls Eatery in downtown Asheville. Click this image to visit their awesome website. If you every go, get what I had: Sweet Potato and Black Bean cakes with sour cream and avocado salsa, with collard greens, macaroni and cheese and their delicious cornbread. I promise you will love this farm to table restaurant! Everything is homemade daily!
There you have part one of my wonderful birthday weekend, (thank you so much, Beth, I loved it!!) now I'm off to spend the day with my adorable husband to take lots of pictures with my new birthday camera. Yippeeeee!!
I had such a wonderful time this morning with the Rotary Club of Burke Sunrise group. They invited me to their Thursday morning sunrise meeting, fed me a buffet breakfast and gave me the opportunity to share about my artwork.
I feel very honored and blessed to have been asked to spend time with this group of special people and to have had the opportunity to share about my artwork and the process of making my art quilts. Thank you again, Rotary Club for your hospitality! We had a complete blast this past Saturday at the Valdese Heritage Arts Center, where I taught a beginning Batik workshop. Everyone present was an absolute delight and the day unfolded with ease and fun! A great time was had by all, and I was astounded at the beautiful art cloth that left with each of these talented artists! Check out the slideshow on this page and some snapshots here of the highlights. Amazing students and an amazing day! I love that in the process of teaching, I always learn something new from each of my students! I thoroughly enjoyed this special day!
